the window - the short film that almost didn’t happen.

Built in 1954, the Ghost Studio building began its life as a post office before later serving as a union meeting hall. When I acquired it in 2020, much of its original mid-century character remained untouched. A time capsule of textures, colors, and craftsmanship.

After countless layout iterations and design explorations, it became clear that achieving the remodel I envisioned would require a complete interior demolition. The thought of erasing that history was painful, and I felt compelled to honor the building’s legacy before transforming it. Facing a sparse schedule while on productions and needing to be moving forward with the demolition phase of the remodel, it was a pressured yet obvious choice to pull the trigger.

I assembled my dream team of stylists and crew to reimagine the building’s past by creating The Window, a short film that captures the nostalgic essence of the space and celebrates its enduring character. The project went on to become an award-winning feature at the 2021 LA Fashion Film Festival.

A chic heroine radiates with life against the backdrop of a 1950s office building in middle America. As we follow her mysterious envelope escaping the mundane office interior, we are drawn to her carefree vibes. Dancing through the drab halls in her colorful orange coat, living her best life, she embodies the freedom of possibility. A stark contrast to the office personnel stuck in the daily grind of corporate America. They are both separated by and connected through the window.
